Will pain management clinics perscribe narcotics for migrains?

I get them so bad to point where Im puking and they last for 4 days.I've tried triptans and imitrex the only thing that worked was fiorinal without codeine. My Dr doesnt want to perscribe it though because its a controlled suppstance. I was on topamax to prevent them but I had to get off because I kept forgetting everything and got extremely irritable! Are pain clinics not so uptight about giving narcotics when you have a migrain? And I read up about fiorinal and a lot of people have good things to say about it but no one wants to perscribe it and it sucks because that did work! And its not like I go through it in 2 weeks. 20 pills lasts me over a month. Should I just try to go to a pain clinic?

Thanks for your answers!

Apple cider vinegar, magnesium and coenzyme Q10 are all supposed to help for the prevention of migraines and you can find further information in web searches for "apple cider vinegar" + migraines, magnesium + migraines and "coenzyme q10" + migraines.

Yes a pain clinic will do everything they can to stop the headaches but they will do a history on u and probably start with a narcotic that helps the average person who comes to them, it may take several different meds before u and them get u on the right one but definitely make an appt. Just a small note: most clinics require a referral from another doctor before they accept u

go to the pain clinic, they should help you, have you try seeing a neurologist what if you have a brain tumor or something else I am not trying to upset you but check it out for shire good luck because migraines suck I have them and are not fund.

Yes they will I have suffered for 20 years, there is morphine injections,Tramadol injection, they can prescribe Nor co,Percocet,Vicadin....some place will even inject Lydacaine in the back of your head to relieve the pressure, some insurance companies will allow you to have oxygen tanks so you can get increased air into the restricted vessels...My favorite is my chiropractor he has worked miracles....Just be careful with the addiction aspect of the pills, but I relate to the pain your feeling....Keep yourself well hydrated and when one comes on hit a Star bucks for a double shot of espresso...You may have to patiently shop for a doc but they are out there !!!

Good luck
