Anyone gone to a pain management center for help in controlling pain? what steps do they take to help you? I've gone to a couple of different pain management clinics over the years. Surprisingly, they were both very different from each other. The first one was more holistic. They gave me a diet to follow, exercise program, and monitored my meds. They started me with things like Tylenol, Ultram, Cortisone injections, blah, blah, blah. That stuff wasn't working so I then tried other things like TENS (electrical stimulation), accupressure, accupuncture, chiropractic services, and narcotic meds such as Vicodin. It was a lot of work. The other center I went to just threw a bunch of pain meds at me and kept adjusting them higher and higher until I reached a level of comfort. They gave me things like Fentanyl patches, morphine, dilaudid, oxymorphone, all those strong meds. Guess it just depends on where you go, what you're there for, and what your problem is. As long as you're open, honest, and take part in your healthcare program, you should get what you need. Take care of yourself and good luck with your program! |
