I was just told that i am going to need pain management and i'm scared?

i was in an auto accident on October 1, 2008 and have been in pain every day since. the problem is w/ my neck and upper back. i have had x-rays and gone through 2 separate 12 session stints of physical therapy which gave me no relief, the only thing that helps are the pain killers. I was just told that i need to get an MRI and most likely have herniated disks and my next step is pain management. I was told I would be getting an epidural treatment I am terrified of needles, i can't even watch someone get them on tv. I checked out what info i can get online but would like to hear from someone who has had this tye of treatment and what you thought of it, did it help you, does it hurt to have it done, any other things you might be able to tell me to put my mind at rest. thanks in advance

I am Sorry to hear you were in such a horrible traffic accident. I was in a terrible auto wreck a few years back and was in extreme pain for a long time. I went to Pain Management and physical therapy and they work over time. i also used a Muscle Relaxant and Pain Relief Medication to help me get full nights rest. I found Tramadol HCL Rx for Pain Relief and I also used Soma Watson Rx Muscle Relaxer. Soma Medicine is a muscle relaxant used to relieve the pain and stiffness of muscle spasms and discomfort due to strain and sprain. Tramadol is used to relieve moderate to moderately severe pain. It also may be used to treat pain caused by surgery and chronic conditions such as cancer or joint pain. Tramadol works by decreasing the brain's perception and response to pain. It also reduces the size or magnitude of the pain signal passed from one nerve to another. Both Tramadol and Soma are available Overnight from MedicineRx.Net. http://medicinerx.net/tramadol.php?c=Pai... .No Prior Prescription needed to order! I hope this info helps you Dear and you get better like i did. Time will work in your favor.

I have been dealing with back pain for years and I just started seeing a pain management doctor last week. Epidural steroid injections don't hurt because they will use a very small needle to inject medication that numbs the injection site. You will be laying on your stomach so you won't see what their doing. Some doctors will temporarily put you to sleep to do the procedure. I had epidural, and nerve root injections on three different occasions. The first one gave me some relief for a day or two, the second and third injections didn't work at all. Your pain management doctor will write you prescriptions for the pain and monitor your progress. My experience has been that pain management doctors are excellent at controlling chronic pain.As long as you don't abuse your medication they will write prescriptions faster than a regular doctor. Best of luck...

you will be ok!
I had my lower back fused in 97,and before that I tried all kinds of epidurals, nerve blocks,ect...
most worked for acouple months and with phys.therapy,it really helped out.if you have the shots, make sure your dr is highly regarded in that field, cause if he is real good, all you will feel is a heavy pressure on your spine.the more you relaxed, the quicker and less painful it will be.I also took a pain pill acouple hrs. before.its a piece of cake, aloha.
