Is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome life threatening?

I believe I may have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, as I have a lot of the symptoms of it. Of course, I am going to receive professional help to confirm my belief, but I would like to hear from those of you who, unfortunately, have this problem. Is it life threatening right out of the box? Or perhaps only if you leave it untreated? Should I be very afraid if I do have it? I should also mention that I don't plan to have children. Ever.

I am quite aware that this is a woman's problem. I am a woman, but have a male avatar.

No, it's not life threatening.
The worst that happens to SOME women with PCOS - not all, is that they have a high insulin levels, are overweight, have diabetes and a high blood pressure.

Once a lady with PCOS loses weight, her overall risk of developing diabetes is a lot lower.

i have PCOS... and from what i know its not life threatening.. perhaps it is but im not sure. if left untreated youll have fertility problems, which kinda seems like my problem at the moment. ummm however if u dont get it treated ull prolly end up in the hospital in severe pain and have to get laproscopic surgery to remeove it... i know this bc this is what happend to me.. i had this severe pain in my lower abdomin for 3 days then around 4am the 4th morning i woke up shakingcouldnt stand up straight or stretch or tie my shoes... i went to the er they gave me morphine. i love this drug made me feel sooo much better... if i wouldve waited another day or so, the cyst wouldve ruptured and they said thats worse then having an apendisitis... its a good thing ur not wanting children.... i want children.. and its not looking like its gonna happen

K i'm confused cuz your avatar pic looks like a dude, and if thats the case then no you don't need to worry bout it cuz obviously you wouldn't have ovaries. Ask your doc

In and of itself... no. But some of the things it can lead to, such as diabetes, can be. This is why it is important to maintain good health and regular doctors visits.
