Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, How does it affect your life?

I was just told last week that I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. I read online all the symptoms, risks, bla bla bla..

But I want to hear from a real person.

Do you have it? Do you know someone who does?
How has it affected your life?

I apparently have had it for 5 years and never did anything to help it out.
They found 3 - 10 centimeter cysts.. But they don't hurt.. The dr was surprised that I never complained before.

I have it. Have had it for 2 years now. The symptoms suck. You gain weight you can get facial hair, you get really bad acne and dark spots all over your body. You dont get your periods and it makes it hard to have kids. It can lead to high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. And you can get anxiety attacks and depression

But I am fortunate enough to be able to control it the way I do. I have a very strict diet and exercise routine. I eat foods that would probably make people gag. LOL. I do tons of research and practice alternative natural treatments. So I dont really have any of these symptoms.

But if you do get them, I heard that laser treatment and this face cream, tri-luma (i think thats what its called), treats the spots and unwanted hair.

The best option for you, is to make sure you eat a very strict diet and keep the weight off. Getting on a birth control will help you before it gets worse. I take them and it really balances every thing out.

If you need some tips or a list of foods that are good for people with pcos or even exercise routines let me know.

Just be active and dont give up. Some people give up before trying. And like I said some people have it much worse then what we may have it. Again let me know if you need any info or advice! :-)

my friend has had polycystic ovarys for 5 years now, from when she was diagnosed with this she never had any problems except hair growing on her belly and that she never has a period and when she is on a period shes on for months, till last year while trying for a baby with her bf, doctors told her that it would be harder for her to get pregnant with polycystic ovary's, so now shes going threw ivf treatment. the best thing you can do is carry on with your research and you can talk to people that have the same problem go to */medhelp*/ sign up to this web site and talk to people it really helps. good luck

I have it. It has not really affected me. My doctor told me it would take a long time to conceive a child, but we were pregnant within a month of trying. I am not overweight (I am 5'4" 129lbs.) and I have no real symptoms.

I think it depends on how severe of a case it is. Individuals probably vary a lot too.

I do not have the syndrome, yet.
but i do get the cyst on my ovaries.
It hurts once in a while.
but its bareable.
It doesn't really effect my LIFE. just somedays.

I have it and all it really does is excessive hair growth. Yadda Yadda..... not as bad as they say, Never painful
