Alternative treatment for pcos polycystic ovary syndrome?

what can be used besides traditional meds- thanks in advance

Address hormonal imbalance which is usually the root of any of the ovarian cyst diseases. You can get your own saliva hormone test at http://www.salivatest.com Read more about estrogen dominance at http://www.johnleemd.com/store/estrogen_...

If you need progesterone to balance excess estrogen, then http://www.womhoo.com has the best type - least amount of additives and very effective.

If you don't want to go it on your own, you can contact Dr. William Eckhart at http://www.womhoo and see about a consult with him. He has a medical history form on the website you can fill in and e-mail to him. He replies with lots of good help and advice.

Best to you in knocking this out!

Only effective treatment is hormones... since in PCO there is no ovulation, there is no release of progesterone and its like you never get in to the second half of the menstrual cycle, follicles keep growing and stay atretic (releasing testosterone and hence the hirsutism)
bottom line you need progesterone, Oral contraceptive pills today contain progesterone as the dominant hormone in them...

There is a rapidly growing body of scientific evidence that suggests diet plays a major if not central role in the cause (and, therefore treatement) of PCOS. I will attach links to a variety of scientific papers for you to read.

PCOS is associated with obesity and Insulin Resistance (IR). Both of these are related to diet and exercise. Several studies suggest that increasing exercise levels plus appropriate changes in diet (decreased caloric intake; increased intake of "whole" foods [real whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables. beans, nuts, etc], fish oils, extra-virgin olive oil, and micronutrients; and decreased intake of trans fats and saturated fats) can have significant positive effects on a variety of issues related to PCOS.

This is not a simple issue. I encourage you to find a health care professional who is properly trained in nutrition to assist you in your pursuit of health.

Try eating on a diabetic diet. A lot of carbs and sugar can throw off your hormones which is the major reason for the pcos in the first place. Once I cut out all soda, pastas, and "white" foods (bread, rice, etc) my blood sugar levels stay at a normal level and the symptoms for pcos nearly disappear.
