My teen daughter has had her period for over a month could this be pcos( polycystic ovary syndrome? |
It has been very heavy and its been over a month actually its been 3 so could is be polycystic ovary syndrome or is it something else? what do you think? she has never had sex or anything and shes been on it for a long time!! But she wont go to the docter she is to scared she doesnt want them to do an exam will they if she is bleeding or will they put her on something? And will they just ask her questions i need help please! or is this normal for a teen? That's not enough information to really be able to tell if she has PCOS. I work in an endocrinology clinic, and we see many girls with PCOS. While irregular periods are a symptom, most of the time other symptoms accompany this. Mostly, is you daughter considered overweight? Does she have excessive hair growth? The same thing happened to me in 1992; only I bled for a year, but I am an adult. My Gyn said it was due to me not ovulating. I also have PCOS (since my late teens), but was misdiagnosed until 1993. i bled for a month straight before i found out that i was really prego and that the pregnancy had turned into an ectopic or tubal prego. Obviously i was bleeding internally and it was being released through my vagina. I really think you should go to the doctor, I had the same thing a few years ago and ended up going anaemic, which wasn't very nice at all. The doctor could find nothing wrong with me, so they put me on the pill and I have had no problems since. if shes been bleeding for a month take her to the DR, free clinic or planned parenthood asap. Whatever is causing it is not good and could create future complications. best to act now i think its time for her to go to a doctor hun, that's not normal and sorry but we really cant diagnose her on here. i hope shes okay though. good luck :) |
