What is a deadly pregnancy disease, where the mother dies while having the child, called? I'm writing a paper for a class and need this information. Please and thanks(:

The most common cause of death in the perinatal period are hemorrhage (mom bleeds to death) - this is what really kills women

However, there's a syndrome called preeclampsia toxemia which is kind of interesting. Basically there's a problem at the placenta which causes moms blood pressure to skyrocket, can cause the liver to rupture, and can lead to seizure (eclampsia) or strokes. This still occurs albeit uncommonly.

Not a disease but a condition: pre-eclampsia toxaemia. It can be fatal to both mother and baby.
