Infrared Saunas and pregnancy?

Are they okay to use while pregnant??

Some say Right on them to consult your physician before using if you are pregnant.

While online i found a site that says If you are pregnant or think you MAy be pregnant Consult your physician as heat in early months of pregnant can injure the fetus.

So, there is a possibility i may be pregnant but am not sure, Should i be worried about using an infrared sauna a few times a month.

I put this in alternative medicine , because my husband and i use the sauna as a detox once a week.

So long as your core temperature doesn't exceed 38.9掳C, your unborn baby should be fine. A Canadian team studied this in the 1980's and found that in a traditional sauna set at 80掳C, women of child-bearing age all left the sauna before their bodies rose to a potentially hazardous temperature.

Infrared saunas work differently, but if you're limiting your time to 5-10 mins through your first trimester, you baby should be fine.

For detox, using the sauna once per week probably isn't doing much for you. You shouldn't be trying to detox at all if you are or think you might be pregnant. A detox regimen will cause old toxins in your body to mobilize in your bloodstream, transferring these to your unborn baby.

Good luck.

Hi Wheat Kings and Pretty Things! (Love your pseudo!)

If the long term effects haven't been properly investigated, it is safer not to use an infrared sauna in the early months of pregnancy. You would regret it so much if something happened to affect your baby negatively.

It's only for a few weeks, 8 or 10 at the most, since you may already be pregnant.

You can detox once a week by using a light fast with freshly pressed fruit and vegetable juices mixed with water for a whole day.

Take care and have a good life!

I agree see what the Dr says. I wouldn't be using them if I'm preg

though they are safer than microwaves I wouldn't risk it
