How early do you feel abdominal movement in pregnancy?

I'm just wondering, how early do you feel movement in your lower abdomen when you are pregnant? Could you feel something in early pregnancy? Maybe not the baby moving, but your body working hard to make the baby grow? Please tell me of your experiences too :) Thanks in advance!

Quickening (the first movements of the baby) usually occurs between 16-20 weeks, usually towards the later end of that for first pregnancies. It is possible to feel things moving around in your abdomen even if you aren't pregnant... things such as gas, muscle movements, etc.

I did feel something right when I missed my period with my first pregnancy... almost like tadpoles swimming around. It only lasted a minute or two, but that is how I knew I was pregnant. I know it wasn't the baby moving, but something in my body went weird for a minute. It is all normal.

When I was first pregnant, I hadn't tested yet, but was late, I would lay on my stomach really still and could swear I could feel a beating that was never there before. I know it is silly, but I think that is when I knew I was pregnant. I didn't feel actual flutters until about 20 weeks.

The old wives tale says that the baby will be born 4 1/2 months from first flutters. My son was born to the day 4 1/2 months from first feelings.

good luck..
