Will progesterone taken topically have any bad effects on a fetus? |
Trying to get pregnant with holistic approach. Low hormone levels lead us to the progesterone. Just want to make sure that I won't cause problems to the child. NO it won't cause problems, but you need to know that topical progesterone causes way more side effects than a progesterone suppository. Additionally, you must be sure to confirm that ovulation has occurred before starting progesterone (using OPKs or with BBTs). If you use it during the follicular phase you can mess up the entire cycle. So start it around 3dpo until AF and then take a break again until after ovulation. If you have been proven to have low progesterone by your doctor, you really should have a prescription rather than do it yourself. Simply ask for the to prescribe a natural progesterone supplement instead of an artificial one! |
