Day 21 progesterone test? How accurate is it? |
I am curious as to how accurate the progestrone tests are if taken on day 21 since women ovulate at very different times? For instances say I ovulated on d12 then could the test be flawed and not give me the correct number? I am asking more for hope than anything I quess... If you ovulated on CD 12 then when you take the test after that doesn't really matter. Your number will remain high until your body realizes you're not pregnant and your period starts. If you didn't ovulate at all the number will remain low. I believe they use CD 21 as a guideline because everyone ovulates on a different schedule. I had a Day 21 progesterone test due to not knowing if I ovulate or not. I'm working on baby number three, and it's been two years of trying. My gyno said he has no doubts I ovulate each month since my periods are right around 30 days. Well, my results were negative. After doing OPK's though, I notice that sometimes I have a 35 day cycle. I think the test is just a snapshot in time, and you can easily miss it. i have only had a progesterone test done after i was pregnant. my levels were to low so i had to take progesterone. but i think that the number should be accurate. i actually just went in last friday (cd22) and it was only 3.83 but i think that's wrong because i think i ovulated late into my cycle! |
