Are there over the counter pills to help Schizophrenia?

Are there over the counter pills to help Schizophrenia? I know I cant pay about $180 a month for risperidone so is there another route?
Thanks

There is nothing over the counter for schizophrenia. Self medication for that would be catastrophic, and would never meet the requirements necessary to get over the counter approval.

As for affording medications, check out http://www.needymeds.org/ virtually every medication manufacturer has assistance programs for people who can't afford their medications. Alternatively look into state medical insurance programs, as they will usually have some sort of program for schizophrenics.

Unfortunately, no. But I do know a few people who take other supplements for mental disorders such as Vitamin B and Choline. You can get both of these for about $30 at GNC. You should get presciption medication for schizophrenia, though. They really help the episodes. Maybe you could do some research to see if there's any way you could pay less. Good luck!

no. some health professionals over a sliding scale, you should look into that. Sigh* you can try kava kava and also ginko biloba. Maybe go online and look up herbs useful for mental illness. I remember reading somewhere that an otc medication or herb was useful for schizophrenia, but I cannot remember where I saw it, only that a long time ago, I saw it. Schizophrenia is just a chemical imbalance, but if its severe instead of mild-you will need medication. Period.

people have been using large amounts vitaman b for all mental illness check it out.....paste this into the url section.............http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ei=nB...
