Do you think there is a perfectly sane correlation between schizophrenia and religion?

Before you guys go nuts, I believe there IS a perfectly SANE and socially ACCEPTABLE explanation....

....here's a source detailing the very real correlation between schizophrenia and religion (but allow me to remind you that I don't completely agree with it although I am not one to argue against the validity of someone's testimonial and in this case, if a schizophrenic accounts religion as a reason for why psychologists view him crazy, then there is something wrong with that picture even though people have hurt others in the name of religion...);

There are soooo many ways to ritualize the way you live, sooo many ways to celebrate life (and a so many ways to express a hopeful outlook on the continuation of the most valuable thing we can ever have), and I believe God was the internal dialogue that was morally altruistic and perfect in certain world heroes of the past (today its nit-picked by psychology, but that is why i choose to study it), and finally, everything IS connected, the final big picture is a picture of something profound, unfathomable, and great (as long as im breathing).

...catholics trigger social taboos in order to keep the organization of its people (organization of people is the definition of a society) in line with the external perception of what jesus' teachings were.

c'mon, the disciples inherently were not jesus and their witness accounts do not say anything of what jesus might have really meant. he was a successful schizoid who retired at age 30 LOL

seriously htough, the most important resource in the middle of an f-ing desert is the human resource. organize them and youll understand how to win over the will of people for generations to come. prophet muhammad was a marauding, succesful caravan business owner who organized people in such a way in order to create his empire of caravans before the age of 40. likewise, there was plenty of political turmoil during jesus' times that f'd up the organization of the large group of people he stemmed from; the jews.or how about the name fertile crescent? agricultural ability in a desert is worthhoardng

It is clear to me you have no idea what you are talking about.
Wait until someone you love suffers from schizophrenia & kills themselves then you may understand .
Stupid , heartless or just plain uncaring.

That has nothing to do with a correlation between religiosity and schizophrenia. The abstract clearly states that its purpose is to track and measure the religiosity of ***individuals already diagnosed with schizophrenia***.

A correlation demonstrates a generalized relationship between two variables. The article you linked us to demonstrates the effect of one variable on another variable.

In other words: There's no correlation.

I've got schizophrenia. I used to think I was Jesus, then I used to think I was the Ancient Serpent. Now I don't know whats going on. But hearing voices and seeing visions can definitely be religious. Depends on whoever or whatever puts these things into your mind wants to show you whether it be religiously oriented or not.

OF COURSE ... our parents made us and they refuse to accept this simple FACT ... they HAVE to be schizo ... religion is a scam.

My brother had schizophrenia. It was from smoking too much pot. The doctors in the phyc ward told us that more than 90% of schizophrenia patients there, would have been fine if they had never taken drugs.

I couldn*t read the whole paper (there was some sort of layout problem on the link).

But from what I gathered from it, the paper was not asserting what you claim.

It was not asserting a CORRELATION between schizophrenia and religion.

It was discussing the professional's role in considering the religion of a patient with schizophrenia, when determining and providing treatment.

That's hardly the same thing as suggesting there is some cause-and-effect, or correlation, between religion and a given mental illness.

Please read things carefully, and don't misinterpret what they say in a way that fits into some pre-determined worldview that you may have.
