Should a schizophrenia patient be separated from his family? |
my uncle is suffurinf fromk schizophrenia and is ver violent. since he tries to attack we had left him to another house but we provide him with all the food items, clothes, dinner and all, but still when we come to his house he again get voilent and speaks rubbish. What to do now? its depend upon severity of the case better consult a doctor handling the case I love answering things like this, to be honest, although it may not seem like it. I am Schizophrenic, I just don't suffer as badly as your uncle seems to be. Which I'm sorry to hear about. Firstly, to answer your main question, sometimes yes. That is all that can be done to keep everybody safe and help the patient. Nah. There are far better ways to deal with the problem of schizos. Thats weird and sad, because most schizophrenics actually aren't violent. But if he is actually a danger to other people he may have to be committed to a psychiatric hospital until he can get on a correct treatment plan consisting of medication and scheduled therapy and is no longer violent. i think u know that there is no cure... but symptoms of schiz can be diminished significantly with medication... if he takes medication and is still violent then.. yeah he has to be separated from you... but him living alone? that not what he needs... what about a mental hospital? it would improve his health status so much... I personally believe leaving someone because of a health concern is wrong, but if he's hurting anyone or himself, you should probably have him sent away for some time. If not, take him to his doctor and maybe you can change his medications. Well if he prefers to be by himself and is maintaining his doctor appointments, I do not see why not. Some people are happier alone. Consult the physician under whose treatment he is now. put him at the bottom of a well and drop food onto him. |
