Is it dangerous to continue the ssri medication as it may cause permenant sexual dysfunction and harm body?

male;age 29;suffering from ocd,social phobia,mild to moderate depression;on ssri medication since 4 years

You need to consult with your doctor and pharmacist regarding whether those side effects are worth the risk. For example, if your phobia condition causes more harm to your life than the potential risk of these side effects, you should continue the medicine.

It's a balancing act with these types of things. You are correct to seriously consider the consequences of the medication. However, you also need to bounce your concerns off of your pharmacist and doctor in order to get a legitimate alternate perspective. Do some research on your own specific to what you're taking on the internet so that you can formulate appropriate questions for your doctor.

If your doctor is unwilling or unable to discuss all of your concerns, seek a second opinion and I would possibly recommend a change of doctors. Your doctor should be willing to work with you as a part of a team. It's your body, you have a right to know all of the details regarding what the drugs he/she is recommending will do to it.

Again, it's a balancing act. Sometimes drugs shift the problems in a slightly different direction rather than eliminating all problems. You and your doctor are the only ones who can determine if the shift is palatable or appropriate for your life. He/She may be able to recommend a different drug if it's not.

Not Medication it is MEDITATION.
All sorts of controlling mind should be with the direction of a GURU. Another important thing is the attitude of the mind should be very positive should abndon all negative attitudes. Good wishes.

I think you and your doctor need to discuss this. Depending on how important you medication is to you well being also. Just because a medication can say the side effects does not mean that this will affect you.
