I think I have sinusitis, will nasal irrigation help?

I have pain in my right cheek and top teeth on the right side. yellow/green mucus. I really don't want to go to the doctor (no health insurance). Will nasal irrigation help or is it too late for something like that to help? I also have chills and feel tired.

Sinusitis is a condition in which the sinus cavities around your eyes and nose are infected, producing pressure, pain, and gobs of yellow or green mucus.

Get all steamed up. Humidity is the key to keeping the cilia working, the mucus flowing, and the sinuses drained. Twice a day, stand in a shower hot enough to fog up the mirror. Or lean over a pan full of steaming water with a towel draped over your head, creating a steam tent. Inhale the vapors as the waft up toward your nostrils.

Get a snootful at work. If stuffiness hits during the day when you're at work or on the run, get a cup of hot coffee, tea or soup, cup your hands over the top of the mug, and sniff. It wont work as well as a steam bath, but it will provide some relief.

Drink your heart's content. Drinking extra liquids-both hot and cold- throughout the day, thins out the mucus and keeps it flowing. Sipping hot teas made with herbs such as fenugreek, fennel, anise, or sage may help move mucus even more.

Bathe your nostrils daily. To flush out stale nasal secretions, using a commercial saline product or mixing 1 tablespoon of table salt with 2 cups of warm water and a pinch of baking soda. Pour it into a shot glass, tilt your head back, close on nostril with your thumb, and sniff the solution with the open nostril. Then blow your nose gently. Repeat on the other side. (learned it from Dr. Jafek, a professor and chairman of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center School of Medicine)

You can try it. I have a irrigation kit and it says not to do it if you are stopped up. If you don't want to go to the dr it will probably get better on its own. If it starts getting worse you should go get some antibiotics, you let it get to bad and it will be miserable. My doctor always suggests using sinex nasal spray ( i think vicks makes it, you can also get off brand). If you can get past the menthol going up your nose it works wonders.

Sounds like you need some antibiotics. If you don't have health insurance don't worry! I actually was referred to an online pharmacy site by my friend and I absolutely love it. The online doctor will review the form you fill out and then they will fill and ship your meds. The site is www.rxovernight.net A good antibiotic to use is Zithromax (also called a Z-pack) and this is what doctors have prescribed to me in the past for sinus infections and it works great.

I don't have insurance either and I highly recommend this site and the prices are great as well.

Good luck and make sure you get some antibiotics or it can get way worse and then you'll have more severe problems.

Hope you feel better!

Hey,

Sounds like you have Maxillary Sinusitis. I left you a website that can possibly help. Without knowing the extent of your symptoms I can only advise you based on what you said. So, drink plenty of water and LOTS or Tea. Ibuprofen can help with pain and some type of cough and cold medications for example Robitussin. Now LISTEN, if symptoms get worst and you start to get a fever..SEE YOUR DOCTOR. O.k..good luck!!

At first, you may collect some infomation by inputing the relevant keywords in search engine,if you get good luck there ,then your problem is solved.nevertheless,if you could not find the ideal answer for your question by doing that, here http://www.healthinsurance-onlinetips.in... is the resource i suggest.

As long as is is done in a sterile process. I would still see a dr. a pay what you can over time, I've seen people die from sinus infections!

It will help clear some of the mucous out of your sinuses, which may help your body to heal the infection it sounds like you have. Give it a try, but if you don't get better in a day or two, you need to see a doctor and get some antibiotics to clear it out. A severe sinus infection can lead to other things, up to and including a brain infection.
