Suffering from sinusitis with Heavy nasal mucus & smelling. With homo path don't cure. Any english medicine?

Antimicrobial drugs are the mainstay of medical treatment and the choice of antibiotic depends upon whether the sinusitis is acute, chronic, or recurrent. Recurrent or persistent sinusitis and presence of complications may require surgery. Keep the nasal passage patent by use of decongestants, take steam inhalation, use antihistaminics to keep the nasal mucosa dry and an appropriate antibiotic. This should be done after consultation with an ENT doctor.

I have suffered with chronic, bilateral, maxillary sinusitis for many years. You DON'T want to use a decongestant spray like Afrin because of an exquisite side effect known as "rebound congestion". Use of Afrin causes the mucous membranes to swell after 72 hours of use which increases congestion.Sounds like you prefer more natural forms of treatment. Here ya go try these: 1) vapor bath (active ingredient mentholatum).. either in the bathtub or in a pan on the stove. Make a tent (after removing from heat) with a towel over the pan and breathe in through nose and out your mouth. 2) Saline spray to clear bacteria. 3) warm, moist washcloth placed over the forehead and/or the bridge of nose and cheeks depending on the area of congestion. MEDICATION- oral decongestant like Sudafed. I prefer old fashioned pseudoephedrine that you buy OTC in a Walgreens for example. Use that during the day (every 4 hours or so) and at night switch to an antihistamine. I use Benadryl as though it is a 1st generation medication it works better than some of the newer ones. The reason is at night you don't want to have your sinuses drain down the back of your throat while sleeping. Gives you a sore throat, nausea, and a productive cough. So at night take a Benadryl about 30 minutes before bedtime as drowsiness is a prominent side effect. Keep some water and saline spray by the bed to keep the membranes moist. If the problem does not start subsiding in 3 days or so go and see your doctor as you are probably in need of an antibiotic as the fluid level is stagnant in your sinuses resulting in infection.
A quick way to check for an fluid level is to get a penlight flashlight, go into the bathroom in front of the mirror. Place the penlight in your mouth lit and close your mouth around it. Turn off the room light. If you glow like a jack-o-lantern then no fluid level. If the light is dull, and does not light up your cheeks you have a fluid level in your maxillary sinuses. i use a sinus rinse called Neil Med....try it,you can buy it at any store.i love it.hope i helped.also you could also use a nasal spray called Afrin,but i don't know if you could use both at the same time,ask a pharmacist first.hope you get better soon.
