I was in the sun for about 30 min. with a uv rate of 7 without sun cream. Am i at risk of getting skin cancer? Well in all truth, we're all at risk for skin cancer. You can develop skin cancer even in places where the sun never touches you. But I know that's not what you meant in your question. All these answers are true. You need some sunshine to make vitamin D, yes. But you only need about 15 minutes a couple of times a week. I doubt anything will happen from your 30 minute rendezvous, but make sure to protect yourself in the future and don't go crazy with Mr. Sun. And remember, no one can really diagnose anything online. Skin cancer depends a lot on your skin type, how many moles you have, your childhood sunburns, and even some genetics, plus a hundred other factors. If you're ever truly worried, it's a good idea to see a doctor. In the meantime, I'm sure you're completely fine. Not unless you already have some kind of condition that causes you to be extremely susceptible to skin cancer. I spent my entire childhood on the beach (the winters in South Florida, too, and it's toasty down there) and I'm now 33, still spend as much time as possible outside on the water, etc., and haven't had any signs of skin cancer yet. I'm not telling you it's okay to fry yourself in the sun all the time or anything, but don't freak out over having been in the sun for a few minutes. It's actually GOOD for you because your body uses the sun to make vitamin D, which strengthens your bones. No, in all probability you will not. However, never forget your sunscreen again if you go in the sun frequently. You need to protect your skin from the harmful UV rays. Just make sure you don't do it again. How do you know the uv rate was 7? Anyway, 30 minutes in the sun is good for your body producing vit d. Depends on your skin type...if you have light skin with lots of freckles than you will be at risk for getting skin cancer. depends how pale you are. maybe if you are alabaster, but if you are normal then not really Not even a little. Of course, maybe you will be if you do that every day for like 100 years. Not unless you do that every day for a while. I'm sure you wouldn't be at risk if it was only 30 min |
