Does bi-polar disorder have anything to do with sleeping too much or too little?

That maybe one of the symptoms. There are a whole lot of other symptoms of bipolar disorder.

Absolutely. When you're bipolar, you go back and forth from being manic and hyperactive to being tired, depressed etc. When your moods shift like this, it affects your sleep schedule. During the manic phases, you tend to develop hypersomnia and sleep less, for some it can even be so severe they go for days without sleep. During depressive phases, you develop insomnia and over sleep.

When I'm hypomanic I don't need sleep at all, my mind is racing too much and I have so much energy sleep is the last thing I need, however when I'm in a depressed episode I can sleep for 14 hours a day, not want to get out of bed and constantly feeling tired.
