During open heart surgery my dad had a stroke?

It was not a "bleed" but an "aclusion."

During open heart surgery my father had a stroke. We were told that it was a multiple infarction that probably happened after surgery. Not sure when it happened, at least that is what we are being told. We saw three small areas on the brain on his CT, but it was not a massive stroke.

My dad can swallow and talk but he has lost his left peripheral vision. He can walk around with one assist. He knows his family and current events, but is having trouble with math skills.

It has been almost two weeks since his surgery. What can I expect in the way of recovery of his left peripheral vision? What likely caused the infarctions and is there any danger of more infarctions at this time?

I had read your article earlier then went to yahoo search & looked up Peripheral Vision where they have tons of info for you on Wikipedia. My Dad had suffer mini strokes one after another, then had alot of trouble reading so I had ordered something he had always like but in large edition- Readers Digest. We would sit together and I would let him try to read ( he knew he was having a hard time, so be gentle. Repeat the words that he makes a mistake on. Its only been 2 weeks, as for the Math I had gotten my Dad some kid books at the dollar store on adding & subtracting, along with some flash cards. Flash cars Dad got really frustrated so take it easy, its not something that just pops right back..
All My Best to you & your Family,
