Hi everyone, I have a question about my grandmother who recently had a stroke and i was wondering if there was? |
anyone who can help ...my grandmother had a stroke about a month ago for the second time in two years ...and at first she was showing a little progress each day ...her right side is paralyzed but she tried to move it as much as possible her arm doesn't move at all but she can move her right leg a little bit....she also cant talk but she tries to ....but over the past three days all shes been doing is sleeping and she doesn't try to move as much and she is not as responsive ....she is over the age of 70 and we think that her memory comes and goes.......Is this normal for her to all of sudden just want to sleep all day ...and not show as much progress as she was before? Having a stroke is exhausting for the body to deal with, especially when it causes new paralysis. She has to adjust her energy level before she can begin to show signs of progress. This might take her awhile; maybe even a few months. It sounds like she's a fighter, though. She has a lot to adjust to; having one side of your body suddenly become paralyzed is nearly impossible to accept at first. What your Grandma needs most right now is love, support, optimism, conversation (yes, even if she can't speak), company, and even humor. Remind her that she means a lot to you. If she is sleepy, she still won't mind the occasional hug. Trust me, all of this will help her more than you will ever know. |
