Does anyone know California law regarding forcing teens under 18 into a rehab program for substance abuse?

I heard California law does not allow rehab centers to keep minors against their will (so their presence is voluntary) although in other states like Utah it is legal. Can anyone provide any information?

The above link is good, but read it carefully. Minors fourteen or older are entitled to hearing regarding involuntary commitment, just as adults. However, the court will rule on a commitment based on the recommendations of the doctors and social workers involved in the case. And, in the case of a minor, the wishes of the parents, who control the legal rights of a minor.

Just not wanting to be there doesn't factor into any case. After all, nobody really wants to be there, right? :)

You are treated the same as an adult and have a right to appeal to a judge. Check out the below listed website for California Minor Patient's Rights.
