I am a pregnant teen without health care insurance, what should i do? |
Okay, I know i made a big mistake having unprotected sex at 17 years old and my boyfriend is 20. I live in miami, florida and I dont know what the legal rules are concerning that. Im too scared to tell my parents or any other adult I know because I understand that it should have never happened. It was also against my religion to have pre-marrital sex so that makes me even more scared. I have no insurance and since I am not telling my parents I have no idea what to do. Darling go apply for medicaid. I'm 16 weeks and have not had any type of insurance either. I really needed to see a doctor. Medicaid will not DENY you if you are pregnant. I got approved just this past monday and found myself a doctor and have an appt. this coming monday. Dont be stressed about not having insurance. the state will help you no matter what. If your a single mom, you can apply for Foodstamps, i dont know if they have WIC in your state, but with WIC you can get free formula milk which is such a great help. =) also im catholic too, and i was in the same situation as you. just remember were all humans, it happens, instead of blaming and worrying, just come clean and you never know ur parents might be more supportive then you think. also you need to tell your boyfriend, he the babys father is only fair that you tell him. im not sure how you want to handle it since we dont know your family and their personality. but good luck darling =) Well I'm 16 and pregnant, and I was really scared to tell my boyfriend and parents, but it really wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be. If you go to your local health department and fill out a paper for medicaid, you should be able to get it since your under 18. But I would suggest you telling your boyfriend and parents soon. First, you have to tell them. As hard as it may be, you have to just act like an adult and tell them. My sister lives in FL and she has just had an issue with signing up for Medicaid since she was under 21. I would still contact them and see if there's anything they can do to help. My advice though, is to talk to your family and boyfriend. They're going to find out sooner or later, and it's better if they find out sooner from you (instead of guessing later when you're tummy starts growing). Their support would help alot. Go to your local Health Department. I live in Florida, and have a few friends that went there. They help you to get Medicare and proper prenatal care. Let your Mom know, she will find out once you start showing and you never know how she will react until you try. Good luck! many states offer health insurence to pregnant women call your local hospital or dcf branch and ask, they should be able to give you information. APPLY FOR MEDICAID. FIRST YOU HAVE TO GO TO A CLINIC WHICH THERE ARE MANY FREE ONES HERE IN MIAMI. THEY WILL HAVE TO GIVE YOU A PAPER SAYING THAT YOU ARE PREGNANT AND YOU SEND THAT ALONG WITH THE FORM FROM THE INTERNET TO THE DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES BY FAX MAIL OR IN PERSON. I DID THIS WITH MY YOUNGER SISTER. Get on Sobra Medicaid and WIC(women infants and children) Get a part time job at Starbucks. They offer health insurance to part time employees. Also, have your boyfriend get a job if he doesn't already have one, that offers health insurance and get put on the policy. First you should go and get medicaid or some sort of state health insurance..You need it for the baby..You will need prenatal vitamins for the baby as well..So you need to tell you mom about this so she may help you.. Run away to England we have free healthcare here. I can't believe the America a supposed free country doesn't have a free healthcare for all system like we do. Tell your mom and your boyfriend, they're going to find out either way. Fill out a Medicaid form as someone else stated. go to your local FIA office, fill out a medicaid form.. they CANNOT deny you. go to planned parenthood.com To Chealsea, 1. You need to check into government assistance programs in your area, specifically, Medicaid (Insurance), WIC (Women Infant Care), and Baby Your Baby. go to the health and human services office and fill out a Medicaid paper you will get Medicaid and they will pay for everything also i would get on WIC they help out alot to with formula after the baby is born you really need to tell your bf and your mom they are both going to find out sooner or later i mean your going to get a nice big belly on you and it will be hard to hide....it wil be easier for you to just go ahead and tell them now plus you don't need to have all the stress on you your mom with be mad but shes going to still love you and help you out its your mom Get a job with medical benefits like everyone else in America |
