Teen health,self testicular examination?

Ok, so I am a 16 year old and I just did a self examination of my testicles and discovered that my left one was more elongated and pointed at the back and hung lower then the right. Also when I felt along side them I found that there were vein like bumps and I was wondering is that what I should be feeling and or is it normal. THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!

Sometimes when guys think they feel a 鈥榣ump鈥?on their testes they are actually feeling their epididymis 鈥?which is a coil of tubes that store the sperm in their testicles. The epididymis will feel soft and 鈥榮quishy鈥?

See the link below which shows where the epididymis is.

Guys should conduct regular self-examinations of their testicles so that they are familiar with their normal shape and size and detect any unusual changes which might indicate a problem.

Generally the testes should feel firm and smooth. If you feel any hard lumps - anywhere from the size of a grain of rice to the size of a pea 鈥?you should see a doctor. Hard lumps in either testis could be a symptom of testicular cancer. While testicular cancer is rare in teenager boys overall it is the most common cancer in males between the ages of 15 and 35.

If you notice a hard lump or any change in your testes you should see a local doctor straight away. The local doctor may then give a referral to a specialist (urologist). A urologist deals specifically with problems in the genital and urinary tracts of both men and women.

Having one hang lower or be a slightly different shape is normal. The veins like bumps probably are veins-the testicles have a lot of them. Do a self exam every time you get out of the shower, and you will get a quick idea of what is typical for you. I you ever have concerns, it is always wise to ask a doc. You are smart for taking the responsibility to do these!

Yes its perfectly normal
