Is being on the depo birth control shot as a teen bad for your health?

im only 17 and so far ive had like 4 shots ...1..every 3 months..im on it as my birth control method but still use condoms for std protection and all..the only thing is that im scared that it might mess me up and i mite not have kids..or health complications can anyone help me

The Depo-Provera injection causes bone density to decrease and 2.2 lbs per year of weight gain. In other words, since you have been taking it for about a year, you have decreased your chances of reaching your potential height (bone density).

the side effects of the depo shot usally is you gain more weight all the time aunt was on it for 2 and a half years in that time she gained 56 pounds and she worked out all the time ate right and still gained weight so if you want to be fat stay on the depo hahahaha

the thing is that brth control changes your hormones so it is possible that you will be on permanent pms or gain weight...everyone reacts differently it wont keep you from having kids if you stop taking them you'll be capable of having kids dont worry about that.

Very bad no matter what age you are. Check out the reviews at http://www.rateitall.com as a majority of women on this shot suffer some very serious health issues. I was on this for a few years as well and it treated me horribly.

Unless something goes seriously wrong with it, you should be fine. Depo shots tend to lessen your periods/irregular periods, and you can only use the depo shot for up to three years in your lifetime.

STOP taking it ASAP! Go on the pill. It is so much healthier for you. Depo is the worst contraceptive on the market. It causes severe moodiness, weight gain, bone loss causing osteoporosis, and infertility problems.

Im 22 and was on the depo for one year but some of my friends said that if you take it more than one year it could make you sterile....but then again you never know you should ask your gyno doc. and see what he tells you....I quite taking it cause of that!!

Lol, if depo was dangerous they wouldn't let you take it. Trust the doctors, they know what they are doing.

I can help you. you must go to http://health-schools.blogspot.com/?q=bi...
