I have a urinary tract infection...it says to drink water? |
it says drinking lots of water will help flush out the bacteria.but the thing is hello?im scared to pee cuz it hurts, should i really drink lots of water, ill have to pee more and that means more pain!!!help im scared...and i dont ge to start antibiotics until tomorrow Keep drinking and peeing! Yes, you need to drink plenty of water. You also need to go out and get a nice big jug of cranberry juice. You may or may not like the taste, but it's packed with lots of natural anti-oxidants that will help kill the infection. You can even get something like cranberry-apple; as long as it has cranberry juice in it. I know it hurts to pee, but if you drink plenty of water and cranberry juice and take your antibiotics, it'll clear up in no time. The more water you drink, the more diluted the urine will be and the less it will sting or burn to go. So yes, you really should drink loads and loads of fluids, and water is best. If things are really, really bad- you can also try this little trick. Fill your tub with about an inch or so of warm water and add in a handful of baking soda. Then have your wee in the tub. I know it sounds nasty, but it will help you get past the first time or so, when things are more likely to burn. After you go, you simply drain the tub, wash yourself down a bit, and get on with life. You can also use a squeeze bottle filled with warm water and baking soda, and squeeze the water aimed directly at yourself while you have a wee as well. That's a bit easier for cleanup, but of course you need the clean squeeze bottle. The more you drink, the easier it will become. You can also ask your doctor for a medication, Pyridium, to help cut down on the discomfort. It turns things orange, and can stain undies- but it does also help. In some places you can also buy this over the counter as well. The antibiotics alone will take a few days to get rid of the infection, so won't help with your discomfort that quickly. For that you just need water, and lots of it. yes drink alot of water!!!!! i had a really bad uti (i was peeing blood). i had no health insurance at work and no money so i bought azo with blueberry and cranberry extracts and drank about a gallon a day within a week it was gone. no antibiotics or other medications, as far as Pain goes try alkaseltzer- it helps. drink water, urinate regularly, but try not to force it out - you might start forcing chunks of your bladder out - if it happens no biggie, just keep drinking water and cranberry juice - also, stop having sex, infections can keep getting passed back and forth to partners making a pretty jacked up situation. Your doctor should have prescribed something like pyridum, not sure of the spelling. But, its helps to relieve the pain and eliminate water. You should also drink cranberry juice. It helps your kidneys. Sorry but I don't think there is anything to alleviate the pain, you just have to wait until it passes. try azo. its over the counter at walmart and will hold you until you can get to the dr. its about $7-9 and its always worked for me. Also, you could try filling a squirt bottle with warm water and squirting on yourself as you start to pee, it helps take the sting out a bit. you can stand a little discomfort, if it helps to heal faster, but also use a heating pad, place it on your tummy to stay warm. take a pain reliever as well such as tylenol or advil (acetaminaphine or ibuprophen) and use the squirt bottle and drink lots just keep drinking water and cranberry juice. it helps! |
