snobaby - "uterine biopsy cell change" is NOT a valid diagnosis and is NOT another name for any cancer. A Pap smear mainly evaluates cells of the neck of the cervix of the uterus, but may also contain endometrial cells from the inside lining of the main part (body) of the uterus. A "thickened uterine lining" refers to the endometrium. IF endometrium ever changes towards cancer, it first goes through progressively atypical cell changes of mild, moderate, and severe hyperplasia, before moving to cancer which starts on the inner lining. You can and perhaps should request a copy of the pathologist's biopsy report for your own records for future reference; you are legally entitled to a copy. Often, your gynecologist may suggest as the next step a further biopsy procedure commonly known as "a D and C" = a dilatation and curettage which is a superficial scraping type biopsy of the inner lining of the uterus for a better sampling to evaluate any worrisome type cell changes. The delay of a week or two is not enough time for you to worry or rush into anything following a report of cell changes which could be due to factors other than cancer.
