Helping my 8 month daughter with a yeast infection? |
My daughter has a yeast infection and I have just gotten the prescriptions for it. A oral medicine to shish in mouth for the thrush and then a cream for her diaper area. I have only had meds for a day but it really doesn't seem like it is working just yet. She is SO uncomfortable.... lat night she had already had the 4th application for the day and I assume absorbed in since i didn't see any remaining. I put on some regular diaper cream to sooth the area. Is that okay to do? To put on regular diaper cream to sooth the sore area between applications of the anti fungal? I don't want to harbor the yeast at all... but she is so miserable always tugging at diaper and crying. What can I do?! Don't use the diaper rash cream unless you are putting it over top of the anti fungal cream. I would do that to lock in the anti-fungal cream and it healed quicker that way. But you don't want the diaper rash cream directly on the yeast infection because it would just make it worse. It takes time for the medication to start working just like the adult version. Just keep her changed often so she stays drier. That will help her be more comfortable until the meds kick in. Our doc explained that we have yeast all over our body and it can be very common for little ones to get an infection. Don't put the other cream over the area. wow i have never heard of an 8 month old having a yeast infection. my daughter had just a short while ago.. and i would wait until she went pee in her diaper.. then took the diaper off and put some cream on her mucker and let her roam around the house bare bum with her pants on... i did get pee on the floor.. but we have hardwood so it was sooo easy to clean up.. dont use diaper cream, it provides a place for yeast to grow. try gentian violet swapped on the affected skin..it stains though, but yeast cannot live in it Get Oraganic Earth Mama Angel Baby Bottom Balm. It's a natural anti-fungal. |
